We Are The Myrrh Bearers
The orignial Myrrh Bearers were a group of women who followed Jesus, their names were Mary Magdalene, Mary (the Mother of James), and Salome. These women listened to Jesus and helped him and his disciples. After Jesus died he was buried on that Friday, just before the Sabbath began at sunset. These women came to his grave to annoint his body on the day after the Sabbath (Sunday) as per Jewish tradition, since they couldn't do it on the Friday of his burial because the Sabbath began. When they got to the tomb, an angel told them that Jesus was not there. Later that same day, Jesus appeared to Mary Madgelane, one of the Myrrh Bearers, and told her to go tell his apostles that he had risen. Obedient, she did.
The Myrrh Bearers of Our Lady of Wisdom also wish to serve the needs of Jesus and his church. Like the women who followed Jesus, they also follow him and work to help spread his good news. The Myrrh Bearers of Our Lady of Wisdom have various projects that are in process. Women of the parish are invited to come to their meetings. Their regular meeting is on the 2nd Monday of each month, in the parish hall at 7:00 pm. Special meetings may also be called when needed to work on special projects.
